Kaen is a newbie player of the Tower who just started the tutorial.
Personality[]
Like most people climbing the tower, he has the sick mentality. He is willing to abandon or backstab his companions if he is able to benefit from it seen as how he didn't hesitate much to throw Yul as bait for the copper scarecrows to be able to escape from the boss room. Afterwards, he was even willing to kill Yul so that rumors of what he did to the latter didn't spread.
History[]
Volume 1[]
He started climbing the tower recently. He met Yul and three other guys in Section A's safe zone and teamed up with them. However, his team was much too lacking to be clear Section A's boss room. Thus, he threw Yul as bait for the copper scarecrows to be able to escape from the boss room.
Later, when Yul reached Section B's safe zone with Cha Yeon-woo's help, he made a show about apologizing to Yul. In fact, his real purpose was to get Yul to forgive him so that he wouldn't tell anyone about how he pushed Yul towards the enemy to escape. This was because he and his team were on track to being recruited by Arangdan - a subsidiary of Cheonghwado - one of the eight top clans. However, Arangdan was very particular about its recruits and wanted people with a spotless record.
Vexed, Kaen decided to kill Yul and get rid of his body so that he doesn't spill the beans about their dirty deeds. Just as he was about to draw his sword, Yeon-woo appeared and cut off his right arm. He then snapped his spine, crippling him and then proceeded to cripple the remaining three allies of Kaen. Later, Bild, the leader of Arangdan, returned to Section B's safe zone where he found Kaen and his companions, crippled.
